Amazed to find that there is a mobile phone signal in the Tunnel.

Why on earth were you checking

I wasn't but the phone was in a holder on the dash and noticed there was a signal.
Presumably it's so all the busy people commuting on Eurostar can keep working
Or it could be handy if you break down.

....or if you want to use the phone to do something phones weren't really intended to do....
