Hello..

Anybody else run these? 215's all round? any problems or benefits you'd care to share?
Thanks,
Sam.
ps. anyone use
www.tyre-shopper.co.uk before?

Yup 215's all round here and has been for several years now, in fact we popped in this morning and ordered 2 more for the front as they are now showing wear so new ones will be fitted tomorrow!

I know it alters your speedometer reading, but does it improve petrol consumption as you now have a bigger rolling circumference per revolution of the wheel. If so I will get a pair for myself, they could pay for themselves pretty quick in fuel savings.I have 205x65x15 at the moment and 215x65x15 is a larger dia tyre so it's quite jump to go to 215x70x15, we must have a tyre fitting expert on the forum, to give any advice before you & I commit. My speedometer is about 8mph lower than the actual reading when i'm doing 62mph so this may make my speedometer more accurate as well.

Hi Jim,
I have regulation tyres at the mo, 195 at the front and 215 at the rear. My speedo reads about 6mph slower than actual speed. (what the sat nav says).
I know a lot of peeps on here run 215's all round. I'm confident there will be no probs so will probs take the plunge after my service. More concerned with getting a decent tyre at a decent price that'll last me and be safe tbh.
Sam.

Provided you have 215's on the rear I can't see how it can affect the speedo ? Its the rear wheels that are driven and the speedo signal is derived from the gearbox output shaft to the rear wheels.

215's all round is what I've used on both my Bongos with no issues. A has been mentioned numerous times before, the speedo has up to 10% margin of error and it HAS to read exactly right or under by law. So if it's reading 54 when the sat nav says you're doing 60, then it is working exactly within the intended tolerances.

That would be bad.

Simon,
Sam is putting on 70 profile tyre's on not 65's which appears to be the norm for 15" wheels, will that make any difference to the mpg or the speedo reading, it's more the rolling circumference of the tyre rather than the tyre width, that I was hoping would improve mpg & speedo accuracy, be it only by a small amount. I'm still undecided what to buy.

I think the van will travel 70/65ths further for any given rotation of the wheel, but it's not really my area of expertise. All the 15" wheels I have are 215/65/15 if I recall correctlty.

Hi Jim,
The actual mm profile is.the width divided by the stated profile on the tyre.

Hi Jim,

Sorry I thought the profile of 70 was 70% of the width, and 65 was 65% of the width. if stated you divide it then a 70 tyre is a lower profile than a 65, so it's 65's for me then I don't want to fit smaller tyres
Thanks Jim.
