SMALL BLING

Decided a pair of those chrome blue neon windscreen washers, wish I'd have looked at how the originals were fitted to start with, the new ones come with a threaded base and a nut & washer with a slot so that you don't crush the wires. but the existing ones are the type that you just push into the hole and it self grips with the built in lugs, but under the bonnet is a double skin about an inch apart and a little hole about the thickness of a small finger, to try and get the washer and nut through and onto the threaded base, well first of all I thought no probs I'll make a tool, no chance the washer doesn't go through the hole, so I thought the only way was to make the hole a bit bigger which I did, not wanting to make too big a hole I plumbed for 20mm, got everything in but couldn't get the washer grove lined up with the wires and couldn't get enough tension on the nut with the tool I made. so tomorrow I'm going to make the holes bigger {no reason not to} and get better access, got to get a switch now to do the job properly

update, result rooting through all my tools in the garage{tip} and found a box spanner set and one was the right fit and it just went through the 200mm hole I had drilled so they are nice and tight now, happy days

That's quite a big box spanner!
I gave up on removing my washer jets to fit heated ones - I just fitted them into the plastic trim under the bonnet edge, so now I have 4 sets. 2 may freeze up, the other 2 won't.
The chrome ones sound interesting - photos?

Hi
I have the same setup, and included a wee illuminated switch to turn them off (blue neon)

....and some VERY illegal horns planned, in addition to the triple trumpet compressor horns already fitted

plus a total of 6 spots, some with eye-ball roasting bulbs

...all with hidden switches where appropriate!
Cheers
Helen

Hi Helen & Tony, Yeah it never stops bling I mean only had it from the converters a week and so far, matching seat covers on the front, neon washers, twin air horns [non compressor] still in progress, remote central locking, front fog lights. hows the reversing camera still working I hope,I know the blue neon's are illegal, [as mention by a member] unless off road that's why I'm fitting a switch as well Colin

Hi Colin
I bought that style first...the plasti-chrome flaked off in one HOT summer, so I bought another make..cheaper, BETTER, and very nice...I'm going to order a red set for the back washers to go on with the brake-lights

...I'll send the details if you wish!
Cheers
Helen
