V6, Radio alterenative supply.

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can take an alternative perminant +12v supply from to power the radio. I do realise that I could route a new feed straight from the battery through the bulk head somewhere. But I thought it may be easier to locate a supply from somewhere in the dash. Or can I piggy back power some how at the fuse box so as to make the supply that is normally switched by the ignition perminant. There by making other facilities work with out key in ignition.

Cheers

Richard

There is a wiring diagram available on the forum somewhere....however, for ease you would be better doing a direct feed from the battery, though one of the gurus may I've you a better feed from the fuse box, which is easier work.

Silly question, but why do you need an alternative to the permanent and switched supplies that are already in the wiring loom for the radio? You could just cut the switched feed to the stereo and connect it to the permanent feed. However, I would fit a switch in line as well because a lot of radios drawer significant current even when switched off on the front and you could soon end up with a flat battery.

Hi,

I would of course be cutting the switched feed just before it goes into the wiring loom & connecting the permanent feed to that. Didn't convey what I was doing very well. Just that often have to leave people in the van but wont leave the key in, so the radio goes off which is annoying for passengers if their listening to the radio. Also I have an immobilizer that sounds for quite a period of time when the engine is switched off but the key is in accessory position. So just want to get around that situation.
