Hook up cable
I was about to buy an Arctic type HU cable when I realised that I still had the old one from my old tourer. It's black and quite a sturdy PVC coated job with the useual fitttings at each end. I have tested it and it works fine but I need to know if regulations have moved on and if I was on a site, would the fact that it is not bright orange make any difference from the point of view of a campsite owner?

Re: Hook up cable
Not something I've ever come across I've got several leads of different lengths and one of them is black and I've never been stopped from using it.
From this it seems the colour is irrelevant except that it usually indicates the grade/quality/type of the sheathing - arctic or whatever.

Re: Hook up cable
The colour isn't part of the reg's at all, merely that a bright colour saves the lawn mover cutting it up when they don't see the cable

I try not to leave my cable lying on the ground anyway, I never think it's a good idea.dandemann8 wrote:Not if the warden cuts it up with his mower electricuting himself then he'll sue ya for millionsObserver wrote:Good! that's over twenty quid savedg8dhe wrote:The colour isn't part of the reg's at all, merely that a bright colour saves the lawn mover cutting it up when they don't see the cable

Re: Hook up cable
If the warden electrocutes himself cutting into your cable, then the fault lies with his RCD. So, once he's recovered he can sue himself!
Re: Hook up cable
No, there are often fences or hedges to loop it over and then to the van, it rarely has to just trail across the ground.dandemann8 wrote:Not if the warden cuts it up with his mower electricuting himself then he'll sue ya for millionsWhat do you do then, use skyhooksI try not to leave my cable lying on the ground anyway, I never think it's a good idea.
