After hours of comparing small awnings, we think one of these would fit the bill for the 2 of us.

If anybody's got one, or know any negatives about them I'd be grateful for advice.

Depends what you want to use it for. Here's a link to the Khyam you mentioned:

We've got an Outhouse Handi XL which is quite similar, although looks to be more expensive than the Khyam:

Both would be ideal for sticking all your clobber in as well as the loo. If you don't need the option of joining up to the side of the van, the smaller Outhouse Double is also quite good:

We've ended with 5 different awnings :!: and choose whichever suits based on where we're going and for how long. Probably the most useful is the Quechua Base Seconds, but they've more than tripled in price since we bought ours:

You might think you only want a small awning at the moment, but when you have got all your gear in it, porta loo etc. don't forget the 2 of you have got to fit in it too   The size you are looking at are ok for utility tents, storage etc. But we like to sit in ours and watch the world go by when it is a bit colder/raining. Do your research as you seem to be doing and think about what you want an awning for, storage or living space, go and look at them in camping shops and get an idea of the size. Have you looked at the Sunncamp range we have a Seeker which does us fine, we have the loo in the bit that attaches to the van as the main room of the awning zips up so it is private. We bought it second hand from a BF member off the site.

Happy hunting. :D :D

This could be the starter awning.
It will tide us over until we get some experience.

Over the winter we might only do a few days away at a time and we thought a big one would be too much hassle when wild camping, so somewhere for the loo and a bit of storage seemed a good start.
The loo tents didn't appeal.

Somehow I don't see us ever having 5
