Hi, we're venturing to France in Um next week, our beloved new Bongo, and we wondered if anyone could recommend any good campsites. Going from Cherbourg down to provence via the Loire valley hopefully.
Preferably small sites, not bothered about swimming pools etc as long as the there's a half decent shower and a toilet.
Thanks!

Not necessarily small or cheap, but if you want one night in somewhere nice try staying at a chateau:

We stayed at Chanteloup near Le Mans a year or two back and it was brilliant:

Look for the municipal campsites. Most towns and a lot of villages have them, not many facilities but cheap and a lot are in good locations.

This webpage shows the camping municipal campsites. In the main they are cheap and usually nearto the local sports facilities. Can be next door to the local swimming pool.

Beaumont-sur-Sarthe just north of Le Mans has a really nice little site. We have stayed there a couple of times
