Bongo Fury

I have been looking about and see that the only bull bars go for quite a bit and never with postage, so am wondering has anyone details of a retrofitting a set of bars from another 4x4, I have looked at a few A bars possibly, but found nothing local yet that I could make fit.
If anyone has done it would be good to see.

i used a merc one, it fit with a bit of a tweek and a bend, see my avatar picture. it was ok, but not as good as the real thing.
there are at least 2 common bars available, one has the spectacle ends, and another that looks more like a moustache,(if you see what i mean).

pm me if you want too, i maybe able to put you on to someone who has the standard one/s for sale.

There are two listed on eBay. One seller is offering delivery for £25 and the other will accommodate buyer arranging own courier. You'll be looking at about £100 for one in good nick. Word of caution: make sure it comes with the bottom brackets as they are quite rare and costly to get fabricated. Looking at the ones on eBay now, one only shows top brackets and the other one is not clear whether there are any.

I have a spare set of top brackets if that is of any help.

Bongos have Fender Defender Bars, other cars have bull bars ha ha

In addition you will need two new bolts to fit your bull bars as you will find that one each of the four existing bolts which you will have to remove from each side of the engine block will be slightly too short when the extra thickness of the bull bar bracket is taken into account. I was lucky as Wheelquick in Wigan gave me the bolts that I needed free of charge.

Nearly forgot. If you manage to get the FDB's (Phew!) then you want then make sure that they come complete with a scuttle plate, the alloy shield fixed to the bottom of the FDB's. These are even harder to get that the FDB's themselves and the FDB's don't look right without them.

Too much Munroe walking without warm headgear. Takes its toll ha ha. Mind you, that leaves me needing an explanation for my lapses. Agree about the scuttle pan. Mine looked ok with just the fdb, but looks yummy with it. New model owners can ignore this post ha ha gloat

Good point about the bolts. The are a very fine pitch thread & it cost me £15 to get 4 replacements.

I have had look under mine and I have the brackets all ready installed on either side, that was what made me think it would be easy to fabricate a couple of plates to adapt another model of bull bar.
