Campsites and pubs, Dorset coast

Feel the need for a last minute get-away (the beauty of having a Bongo) and hoped someone out there might be able to recommend a campsite somewhere on the Dorset coast, Swanage/Weymouth area (ish) within walking distance of a half decent pub. Any suggestions?

Tom's Field in Langton Matravers is lovely, but they don't take bookings and it is high season. Worth it if you can get there before the weekend.

Two pubs in Langton Matravers, both are good. Two miles along the bridleway to the famous Square & Compass at Worth Matravers and 3 miles or so to Swanage itself, the other way along the bridleway (Priests Way?) where there are a number of good pubs in the back streets.

Alternatively, try Downhouse Farm, Eype http://www.downhousefarm.org/node/8 if you want peace and quiet, although I see they've closed the coastal path because of the landslide on the other side of West Bay. There's loads of other footpath walking away from the coastal path though, into West Bay with it's pubs, into Bridport with many more, and there's a brilliant one in Eype itself (Irish). Choice of camping near the Farm with basic facilities, or in a field near to Eype beach, with a walk up the footpath to the farm for your water and loo and shower. I went on a Bank Holiday and chose the lower field. There were other campers there but it was sooooooooooooooooo peaceful - and nearer to the pub!
