Scottish Bongo Bash 2013

Anyone care to nominate a venue for this event, which is to be held over weekend of 17 May 2013? We want to head North or West this year, away from the central belt. Site must be able to take 25 Bongos all with hook-up. Clubhouse or walking distance to a pub would be ideal as well.

Any ideas?

Yes, I have stayed here in pre-Bongo days. Excellent site, but a bit of a midge problem, even in May. Which would be OK if there was a clubhouse or somewhere else to congregate around dusk....

What's the site like at Crianlarich?

Why don't we go in February then, no midges, play with the 4wd in the snow and I get to try out my ski rack properly.

Not such a mad idea, and let the tough northerners have the scottish slot later in the year. the Scots are much tougher than northerners anyway, as we all know, except where midges are concerned, and the north won't have Midges in May, with any luck. And then a Soft Southerner in a Sou'Wester, like wot I am, might even go to the now Not-So-Tough-Northerners event.

Confused? I am.

Well Brian 4WD's are great on the beach, all you need to do now is to take up water sking.

Great find. I went up this way a few times in my Munro bagging days stopping mostly at bothies. I've even been to Inverewe Gardens three times but as far as I can remember there is a problem with dogs. First time I went I was able to walk around with my black labrador without any problems, the second time I found myself confronted with a notice "Guide Dogs only". Better check this one out.

This was a great stay a few months ago for us, up in Ullapool.

June and I spent the night at that campsite five years ago on our way back from the Western Isles. It is right in the middle of the town which makes it very busy in the summer months so it may be hard for us to get a block booking.

Muz will love this one as the town has a great chippy with fresh fish off the boats at the quay just a few yards away.

How about the CCC site at Rosemarkie by Inverness. http://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co ... c2%2c3%2c5
On the East coast so less chance of Midges. Have not been recently but I believe that it has been upgraded. It is worth it just to watch the Dolphins.
