Green Hill Farm, Landford

Re: Green Hill Farm, Landford
Well, we can go for a "non-electric" weekend if you want, but most people demand electric hook-ups, and I suspect we would be lucky to get 10 or 20 (rather than 50 or 60) going back-to-basics.
Anyway, I told them we will not be booking.

Not to be confused with Green Hill Farm, but as close as you can get is
http://www.hillfarmpark.com/default.asp I did have a quick word with the site and
"Out of the main season June/July/August" as the man said, they do on occasions take rallies/group bookings.
Could be worth looking at Ian.
The only other one in that area but with very basic facilities ie just a large empty field with what only can be describe as a shack style toilet block is http://www.greenpasturesfarm.com/ If you look at the picture on the right, that's the toilet block you can see
The only upside to this place is the pub down the road is awesome

Over to you Boss, give me a shout if you require any more info.

Hmmmmm......Hill farm Park stresses on their website that there is to be no noise AT ALL after 11pm, and they discourage large groups if alcohol is involved! That's no good for us then.
The other one might be OK for Hillbillies like Graham, but most Bongonauts will need a wash over the course of 4 days.
Let's see if there's anything slightly further north, Andover perhaps?

What's wrong with a strip wash? Crikey, has no one been to a Festival?Ian wrote:The other one might be OK for Hillbillies like Graham, but most Bongonauts will need a wash over the course of 4 days.
Check out this one Ian: http://www.stonehengecampsite.co.uk/Ian wrote:Let's see if there's anything slightly further north, Andover perhaps?

A possibility, Wyke Down Touring and Camping Park at Picket Piece near Andover. Picked it from a guide rather than personal knowledge but they claim 60 serviced pitches with hook ups either gravel or grass. Has a golf course associated with it. Nice countryside and good access from A303.
Trouble the area is full of good sites but all too small for this size of meeting. Its very much forest camping with limited facilities or seaside sites full of statics.

Perhaps I should add the toilets/shower block used to be Porta cabin style last time I went.

Birchwood Park near Wareham is another fair size park with a good number of hook ups. they also welcome rallies. Very poor website does not give number of hookups but from the variety available there seem to be a lot.

There's always the one at Lymington where it was held about 5 years ago:

Handy for the town, harbour, beach, New Forest, etc.

Hurst View would be ideal if the site has enough hook ups. It gets rave reviews from those who have stayed there. There are good dog friendly pubs, walks and Lymington Saturday market. Only reason I did not recommend it was I was not sure there was enough room for the size of the meet.

Looking at the thread from 2007, there were 60 places which is probably about right. That is, assuming they'd have us back .

Re: Green Hill Farm, Landford
A few other sites that cater for rallies (some possibly already mentioned above):
Hants:
http://www.droveleacaravans.co.uk/pages/rallies.html
http://www.hillcottagefarmcampingandcar ... ridge.html
http://www.campingintheforest.co.uk/our-pitches/rallies
Wilts:
http://www.blacklandlakes.co.uk/events/index.php?s=1
This place is just down the road from me. Technically, they can only accomodate 15 vans, but the chap that runs it has been known to stretch the rules to suit, so may be worth a punt:
http://www.stonehengecampsite.co.uk/rally-field
Alternatively, perhaps we could get our passports and venture over the Isle of Wight?

Re: Green Hill Farm, Landford
I've never been to Blackland Lakes site before Simon, but it does look nice, I'll have to try it.
One I'm going to next weekend for the Barnstomper Festival is http://www.rowlandswait.co.uk/
That also looks good and is in a great area...............I'll report back on my findings

Yes I have been Ian,its a very good well run site good facilities but I was alarmed by the amount of site cameras they seemed to be everywhere supported by a bank of TVs in a room in reception (very Big Brother) when I went which was a few years back they had just spent a lot of money on the site so you could say they were protecting the investment.Good site to stay at though!!
