What size are the nuts and bolts for the rear drop links?
Are they standard and can I ask for them from Halfords or Screwfix?
Thanks in advance.

I really have no idea as to the correct size nut and bolt but 17mm is a huge bolt and would require a spanner of about 28mm to fit. Maybe the previus poster meant that a 17mm spanner fits in which case the bolt is likely to be 10mm.

10mm is correct.
4 10mm Bolts £1.50
4 locking nuts £2.00
2 Rear Drop links £28.00

I recently replaced mine, I used a 17mm socket wrench with an extending arm. One of the bolts on the front was 19mm! Also worth having a 17mm spanner in case the nut is on tightly and rotates the whole ball and bolt.

Hi folks.
Do these need to be high-tensile bolts?
What length are they?
Cheers from Leon

That's a set screw ( treaded all the way along its length)
You may well find yours are standard bolts with only part of the length threaded, if so you need to fit the same as whats in, I doubt its a set screw.

But would 40 mm be the right length?

Firstly I haven't removed a Bongo one but the other vehicles I have done have the type of bolt you have posted the link to above, not the set bolt.
To be honest I would just take one out and have a look to be certain.
I have heard of a couple of incidents from people fitting the wrong grade bolts to vehicles and having them snap.
If you remove the existing bolt it might be marked on the top some are some arnt

Thanks winchman.
Under ordinary circumstances I would do just that; but in this case I can't get the bolts off ahead of time.
The reason is that my mechanic friend tried to get the bolts off when he had the van up on his hydraulic lift, but can't because they are seized. He needs to break them off. Because he lives some distance from me, I need to drive the van to him, then remove the old bolts and fit new ones in one go (hence my request for help in determining the length).
So, any help with the length of the bolts please?
