Overheating-Need Help!

Hi,

I've been having overheating issues and would be grateful for some suggestions. Our 1996 P reg bongo overheated 4 weeks ago and then was bled by a mechanic but not sure if this was the correct bongo method!

The bongo was then fine with no more issues. However, this week temp shot up again, water topped up but got emptied quickly with bubbling and water spurting from the expansion tank.

What are my options, does it need a proper bleed, pressure test??

If a proper bleed is needed is anyone in/around Gloucestershire who could help me with this?

I'm looking to take the family on a camping trip this summer so quite keen on getting this sorted.

Sounds like a cylinder head problem....gasket at best head at worst.

Not long done one on mine...expensive .

Unfortunately mine went like yours did the second time you mention and it was the head, I wouldn't drive it, don't tow it if it is an auto and get an experienced Bongo mechanic to check it out

def sounds like either cylinder head gaskit at best cylinder head at worse
worth geting someone to check the water for combustion gases

this is the same symptons i had which was caused by a crack in the cylinder head which in turn was caused by a faulty thermostat

might even be worth trying some of the cylinder head sealant on the market that you add to the cooling water as nothing to lose

just been reading through the forum and a faulty thermostat was found to be causing the same problem you have so would try that first being the cheapest and most simple route to follow but dont drive the bongo until it is sorted or you will be looking at a expensive repair bill
