Bongo Fury

Hi All,

Was after some advice please.

Have noticed some rust spots over one of my wheel arches and was looking for some advice as to how to treat this. I've taken a couple of pics of the rust.

Needs to have the rust cut out,new metal,body filler then spray,have the arches ever been filled .?

I was hoping to try to arrest it before I needed it cut and welded.

Never been filled as far as I know! Been around them with a magnet and nothing obvious.

Looks like they may have been done before to me, which is not a bad thing, as long as it wasn't last month. You could rub em down and see how bad they are and make the decision whether to replace or taffy up.

Sadly it starts between the inner and outer arch and by by the time you see it it will have usually perforated. I am learning all about this as I took the bull by the horns and had ago at mine on Sunday. Mine is in the same place as one of yours, behind the whel just above the bumper. It blistered about a year ago and when I cleaned it up there was a hole through inner and outer arch. As it is so small I am going to fibreglass itfor now as long as the rest of the arch is good.

I think once you remove the paint there will be lots of tinworm as Velocette found out. It is possible to fill the rusted out portions with weld if you have a friendly welder that is happy chasing wafer thin metal around for tea and biscuits, if not then probably best considering replacing the arch.

Anyone know of any friendly Bongo welders in Bristol??
