Hi Folks,
Just wondering if there will be any issues with the removal of the air con belt and just leaving it off until I manage to get a new adjuster pulley. I had a quick look the other day and found the source of my rattling noise, but couldnt see anything else that would be affected by the removal of the belt. Being in Scotland theres not much call for the air con.

It should be fine to use it without a belt for a while. Only thing to consider is that aircon should normally be run on a regular basis to keep it in good order, especially the rubber seals which can deteriorate if not used very often.

As you say,there is not much call for air con up here,why not just remove the pulley and fit a smaller belt or a tab link belt the same profile.Making sure that the lower part of the belt has at least 10/15 mm deflection.

Just stripped it off today and found that the bearing in the middle can be replaced by itself, so have one on order & should hopefully get it in the morning. The bearing should be less than a tenner which is a lot cheaper than the whole assembly which was quoted at about £170 from Mazda. Will let you know how I get on.

Thats great,do you have a link to the bearing supplier,I think the part No is F87415121A.Would help if anyone was in the same boat.

I have just ordered the bearing itself 6301 with double dust sheilds. Which is readily available from the place in Inverness so should have it in the morning, if the post is as good as it normally is.

Thanks for the advice anyway, its much appreciated. If anyone else has the same problem this will be the much cheaper solution than buying the whole assmebly, like I nearly did until I found out the price of the new one. lol The price brought out my past life as a Diesel Mech.

Well folks I got the new bearing for my air conditioning belt adjuster and installed in and everything is nice and quite now. All for the grand total of nearly £13 for the new bearing and my free labour offcourse.
Glad I had a look myself now rather than try and get a new assembley.

Nice one! Will get onto this myself very shortly. Rattle seems to calm down when warm, but from cold is quite disconcerting.
