Hi Kenny,

Could it be the combustion chamber insert?you should get a better look at it when the head is removed.

Cheers.

This shows 1) my level of ignorance & 2) my lack of proof-reading ability. I thought the post was about Ejector Seats. I was fascinated to find out how they worked with an AFT . . . and that's how I found myself reading this thread!

I've got a engine manual for sale (bought from club shop) but wont be able to get it to you for over a week. My suggestion would be to remove another injector and see if the hole also has part of it missing. The casting in your photo looks rougher that I recall the genuine head being, so could it be that it has been changed before?

I too have a a workshop manual from the club shop. But they are famous for the bits the translators in New Zealand seem to have left out. If you were expecting a Haynes type manual you will be sadly dissapointed.

The manual has diagram showing how to change the cylinder head gasket and gives the bolt tightening sequence and torque but there are no Haynes style photographs in it so it is hard to match anything up with your photo.

I forgot about the wiki pages since they only appeared a few months ago. As I understand a lot of these pages are the result of the work of Matt who lives in Fife, forum name Driver+Passengers. He is away at the Big Bash at the moment.
