Hose Change - 61-214; Do I really need to bleed???

Hi,
I keep asking these stupid bl**dy questions and this van is actually a headache.
So I changed hose 61-214 earlier (was egging a bit), lost a touch of water but nothing major. Topped up, warmed it up 15mins or so, heaters warm both front and back, temp gauge almost got upto 11 o'clock.
Do I really need to bleed the system??!! The neighbours think I've lost my marbles already.
So far I have:
Fuel/Oil/Air Filters
Middle and Rear exhaust sections
Rear brake pads
Manifold Studs replaced with new gasket
Rocker cover gasket
EGR Blanking
Cambelt
Front drop links arrived today - not done yet.....
It runs really well, and the cambelt was precautionary. I know I need to change the ATF but I'm getting bored. Hillclimb car to build!
What else have I got to look forward too???

Depends if you want to risk the cylinder head or not....simples !!

Such a fussy van!!!
I thought the principle of a car with an expansion tank was to allow the air to naturally escape.....
How the heck do you get it hot enough to open up in this weather?

As it's mid engined and the head is as high as the tank you would be wise to bleed it.
Follow the bleeding instructions and you will open the stat in about 30 mins from cold.

yes! take it from me... ive been there and had 6 weeks of trying to fix it ..then new head!
all from (prob)not bleeding it propperly..

Well I've saved it for another day........
As I'll be doing it on my own I'll use the workshop manual version, hose tied up to passenger wing mirror I guess.
Heaters on or off as I'm waiting for the fountain from the hose when the stat opens??

So, expansion cap off, heaters off, engine warmed up.
No fountain of water from bleed hose, bottom rad hose hot, flushed a little water through by lowering the bleed hose.
Heaters running warm when switched on.
Cap back on, all seems good.
Am I good to go?

Sounds good to me......you may well have been o.k. ....but the risk isn't worth a "bleeding" session.

Top stuff, system seems to be working just as it should.
Thanks for convincing me to give it a bash!
Assume I could use a similar method to flush and re-introduce coolant........
