Rear opening window question

Due to the hot weather it got a bit toasty in the Bongo, so decided to open the rear windows.
It was then i noticed something. The 2 drivers side ( middle & rear ) and the window on the sliding door, all have this type of latch, and open :

However the rear on the passenger side has this, and is unable to be opened :

Is this normal, or does it look like someone at some stage has swopped the opening fixture for this one - and were un-opening rear windows an option on the Bongo, as it looks like a factory fit bracket ?

That window doesn't open - if it did the sliding door would hit it.

Now you've said that, that makes perfect sense
It's funny how something so obvious doesn't appear that way until someone tells you :D

I'll blame the hot weather for frying my brain today

I understand the caution with the rear passenger window and the sliding door, but I recon there is clearance for the door. I just don’t see why Mazda would go to the trouble of putting all th hinges on this window. It has the same seal as the other windows. It has some give in it and can be pushed to create a gap between the seal. Even the aerial in this window has wire connectors with slack to allow for it opening. The mechanism looks like it may open, perhaps there is validation on the door connectors to regulate it’s opening? I recon we need to take this question to a Japanese site. Has anyone taken the panel off the pillar to see the other end of this mechanism?

Multiple versions as the kitchen cube also had its vent in the window so it didn't work well if it was openable see here http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 2of02.html
