A/C Compressor

Hi
Whilst undertaking a wee engine job, I looked at the alternator and A/C pulleys to determine where a small engine rattle came from...I had presumed alternator, but it appears that it's a metal plate on the front of the A/C pulley, which makes a slight rattle when tapping it. Is it replaceable on it's own, or can it be tightened to stop the rattle?. it looks to be a part of the pulley itself, according to lushprojects.
Cheers
Helen

switch the ignition on with the ac turned on helen, it maybe that you are seeing the relaxed state and not the energised state (magnet on).
this maybe normal.

If its part 61-L11 http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html
Isn't that the armature of the magnetic clutch ? If so then it pulls in and locks the pulley to the compressor drive I think, it appears to be only held by a single screw, so looks removable. Not sure what makes it spring back when released, but that might be by magnetic repulsion I guess !

Hi
Thanks...It sounds like Ady may be on the right track, and , yes, Geoff, it looks removeable, but Murphy's Law says I won't get one separately
I can't switch ignition on for a while, as I'm halfway through changing a cambelt...as I can't do much at any single moment, it's a 3 day + job for me with me' various complaints   a few hours for other folk....and I've taken 2 days to just get the blighter off...
Cheers
Helen

It could be a bit of fun if the magnetic does push it away!
