hi all

hubby is trying to fix an oil leak and has discoveredsomething that is broken, but we dont know what it is. the photos are taken of under where the middle console goes and are taken from the drivers side. have tried to circle the bits in the photos that are broken. looks like some kind of tubing has split and also has broken off from where it is meant to be.

hope someone can help and advise...
have circled the bit in this pic and you can see the tubing to the right of it that looks like it should be attached
Image

in this pic i have circled both bits together which i think re meant to be attached
Image

this pic again shows the tubing which also has a split in it as as well as the break
Image

this pic is just a closer up one of the bit

can anyone help and tell me what it is?

I have only had the bongo just over a month. I only noticed it when I was cutting in a fuel cut off switch, it could have been broken for months. I will get it fixed at some point, but i don't even know if my egr is functional! Will take it to bell hill and get a professional opinion at some point!

its exhaust gas recirculation. its a way of cleaning up the emissions, this egr is not needed for the uk regs, and most dont work now as some bongo's are getting on a bit. if yours is still working you may need to repair/replace the part thats broken.
this is a one way valve that is linked into the air pipe circled.if this is broken it may suck air into the system bypassing the filter, and may whistle. the vacuum system may also leak and affect your cold start operation.

Wondered where that post had gone (I was never any good at searching through old posts though  )
Back to the 'FIX'. We did spenners head AND this broken pipe exactly 12 months ago and it's still in one piece, so the fix worked. and it's VERY EASY to do.

steve betty's is broke the otherside of the valve to yours (spenners), it looks like the valve itself has broke, a little more cunning may be needed to sort this.

Oh - Right. Cunning is certainly called for then. Any ideas?
