Does the displayed temperature change as you use the Up/Down temp. control button, or does the heat itself not vary ?
If the Display changes but not the actual heat output then suspect the servo's that adjust the flaps on the passenger side, if the direction controls windscreen/face/feet etc don't change then its the servo on the Drivers side.
If the display doesn't change, then that would suggest a problem inside the control unit - which might correspond with the rear screen heater control as well not working ?

the display changes, just spoke to a friend whos doing a few things to my bongo and i think its something he has left unplugged as he mentioned something on the drivers side so i will tell him to have a look tomorrow hopefully the problem is sorted. i recorded a quick video of the problem.

The temperature display didn't seem to change when you hit the Temp Up/Dwn buttons so it might be internal, but if your friend has had the unit out then .... to be honest anything could be wrong but I would check that the plug is in properly at the rear as a starter for 10! Then find out why the front panel or entire unit is loose!
The display only shows what SHOULD be the situation it doesn't show the actual positions of the flaps and temperatures either!
The other thing to check is that the servo's are plugged in on either side of the air chamber, put head in footwell and look up towards the centre console area behind the dashboard and you will see large white disks driven by metal push rods from the servo that adjust the flaps - best seen on drivers side first!

I've just been looking at the video.. I don't know if its a trick of the camera? But the green readout seems stationary while the whole front (including a plastic screen for the readout?) moves...?
Was the heater control removed at some point..? And if so? How?

The rocker buttons don't seem to be making contact with the switches behind the fascia, which makes it look to me like the heater control unit is broke....

Yup agree, the front panel is loose from the board with the display and some of the switches on it hence the no-op in some cases.

thanks for the replies, ive managed to get it out and have a look and it seems that there is 2 peices broken of which holds the unit in place. ive got the buttons to work now the panel had come so the buttons werent making any contact. now ive just got to figure away how to mount it back in securely
