Is it possible to get a replacement space saver tyre. Mine looks too old to be safe. Size is 135/90D/15. Have read on this forum that you can't get these in the UK but does that mean there is no tyre that would do the job. Would only use it in absolute emergency as I know they are only intended for that. Don't have room for full size spare as have LPG.

I also have LPG....I filled the tyres with Military spec sealant and also checked with the AA/RAC.....you no longer have to have a servicable spare ....they will come out and get you sorted one way or another.
So....I don't carry one at all.

you could of course just buy another full size wheel/tyre........... I have been looking at this issue as I'm considering the 'gas' route LPG that is so no place for the spare..looked at the spare in fine detail realised its not serviceable anyway as the side walls are badly cracked, by the looks of the tread the tyre as never been used! ...So not going to carry a spare at all when 'Gassed' but the trusty can of HOLTS emergency tyre sealer will be by my side

I would think that your best bet is a car breakers,I would go for a Tyre from a BMW or Honda etc,where the tyre/wheel has been stored in the boot away from the elements.I have seen these looking like new.

Any idea which models of BMW or Honda have suitable sized spares?

Your best bet is phoning round the breaker and giving them the tyre size,often they have the tyres but no vehicle.Your size is common to lots of vehicles,you could also try online breakers etc or ebay,gumtree etc.ie

Excuse my naivety but does the space saver have to have a 90% aspect ratio?

They'll obviously have a smaller outside diameter but new 135mm 15" tyres with an 80% aspect ration appear quite plentiful although there load rating may be an issue if they're primarily designed for lighter vehicles.

Yes if it's a 4WD, as the difference in size could wreck the viscous coupling.
