Numpty newbie question .... oil light

Yep, I know I can burrow into my bongo and find my dipstick ...I have my thermos and sandwiches packed for a full day excursion and have taken notes from the You Tube video!

, but I have a Q.
Does the oil warning light sometimes flash on when going uphill, before it is really low? I have only done 50 miles in my Bongo since getting it from a garage and still getting to 'know' it, but the warning light came on twice driving home last night. Hard to believe that they sold it without checking things like oil, but you never know.

I have to drive a few miles first to get to a garage to buy the oil, and I am assuming that I need not worry about making that journey unless the light is on all the time ? Embarrassed if daft question

but better safe than sorry and I know you guys are very helpful (and kind to bongo novices!).

Generally on most vehicles, oil light indicates low pressure rather than lack of oil. However, there is a sensor on the side of the sump so perhaps on the Bongo it could indicate the level is a bit low. Worth checking the level at your earliest convenience.

Personally I would never recommend driving any vehicle if the oil warning light comes on ..

Hi
Who did you buy this from? No way should your warning lights come on having just picked up your Bongo.
I would be straight on the phone to them.

The oil light on the bongo does act as a low level indicator as well as a pressure warning
if your oil gets to the lower end of the dip stick the light will come on as you go round corners etc

I have to admit that I have not looked at the wiring diagram to see if there is an oil level switch incorporated ...but on page 91 of the handbook it specifically states ... If the (oil pressure warning) light appears while driving, stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your Mazda dealer immediately.

I have had the oil light come on under breaking and cornering, dipped it and topped up straight away and it has never come on since.
