Gearbox Pipe Leak

Hi all.

My Bongo deposited a large quantity of red gearbox oil on the drive today after a 5 mile run. It had been dripping slightly this week, but all of a sudden got much worse. Oil level in Gearbox has dropped from Max to Min. There are two pipes running to the oil cooler on the drivers side. Both are very rusty right by the air filter box, and the rubber section looks pretty perished too. It seems that this is where the leak is coming from. Is it possible to remove the rubber pipe, cut back the metal pipe to a position where there is no rust and fit a fresh longer rubber pipes?

Hope you can help out, thanks in advance. Patrick

Hi,
The oil cooler is integrated at the bottom of the radiator, the power steering reservoir is to the right of the air filter housing.

Cheers.

Hi Teenmal, hope to get this sorted first thing tmw morning as I need the van on the road asap, so thanks for quick response!

The pipes start at the gearbox as rubber then change to metal as they go round the outside of the ail filter housing. At this pooint they are very rusty and seem to be leaking from here, so I want to cut that bit of pipe out, an replace with new rubber hose to a point in front of the air filter.

Hope this gives you a little more info.

Are you aware of the Lush Projects site ? Here is the diagram with the various pipes along with part numbers http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html
The diagram is for the 1997-99 versions you need to select the year first if its different!
