no they are a pain,i removed mine still looks good without them..

pain when you go to garages without the right ramp,or if you want to work on them...

also we goto cornwall quite a lot and we look a bit ott turning up on a campsite with the full kit on..not to mention speed humps !

I actually prefere the look of mine with the fake sidesteps and the seat cupra front splitter nailed to the bottom of the front bumper, i never have to worry about speed bumps or kirbs but it gives l'oreal the illusion of being lower than she is 8)

A renault laguna splitter would also fit as would a renault espace splitter

Ours came with the factory fit body kit on. It is not so low as the after market ones I have seen, and we do not have lowered suspension, so we have not had any problems with speed bumps and garage ramps (we have had the van three and a half years). Personaly I would have been just as happy to not have it. The Bongo is a handsome van eiter with or without, I think some of the after market kits I have seen lack 'refinement' and push the taste level to borderline. If i were you I would save the cash  :D

Yes and no, the best body kit that really enhances the bongo is/was the factory update introduction of the 'Aero' model bongo which came with a factory fitted kit, started being fitted on all aero models from late 1997, various updates changed the front bumper but the rear only had one change where a full wrap around skirt moulding replaced the two corner mouldings. I'm not sure? but I believe all bongos from year 2002 are fitted with the body kit as standard......and I'm afraid there practically non existence in the after sales market, you might be lucky to get a kit from a breaker but there well sought after and can go for silly money, I tried to get the wrap around skirt for my 2000 year aero bongo and gave up after 10 months, MAZDA dealers can still supply the wrap around spoiler but wait for it! the price is over £475.00 (just for the skirt) so I made my own out of alloy and jolly good it looks too 8)

I think I'm with Chipvan on this one.

Walking back to mine across an empty car park a couple of days ago, I thought my unmodified tin top looked perfectly proportioned and comfortably clear of the ground (nothing like as raised as a Delica, for instance).

I have always preferred vehicles with good ground clearance and, currently, the easy access underneath to have a quick look around without jacking. With two wheels on a kerb, I have changed the exhaust.

Having said that, if fuel prices get any sillier, we might need to deter tank drilling!

The white one, currently on the Bongo Fury home page, although stunning, looks too tall and upright for my liking. Rather more like a fridge!

Hey 8etty. Got an aero kit on my 2000 model. Haven't had any issues with ground clearance. I think they suit lighter coloured ones. Mines white/silver. Dread to imagine trying to replace it though if prices are that high. Have you tried Bell hill? They break bongos and have aftermarket stuff in.
Total agree with the addictiveness of this forum! 8)

No one NEEDS a body kit.

Sometimes the truth hurts.
