Well I believe I take the prize for being the first person to fit a Fiamma F65S awning to a Bongo, without any technical help from anybody (including Fiamma) photos soon to follow, if anyone is interested that is!

Looking good! Would it fit on a 1996 auto free top without fouling the roof? Cheers.

Time to accept failure
This was my 'findings' PM'ed to a interested party:
I concede defeat!! I was (and the only one) as far as Im aware the nut who fitted a FS65S to a Bongo, I used the Standard Fiamma awning brackets bolted to the roof utilising the awning's supplied steel plates underside of the roof plus the latest
M6 Polymer silicone adhesives to correct the roof slope..yes, you do have to release the roof linning on the nearside to gain access to the underside of the roof panel..not a job for the faint hearted! BUT there's a sad ending to this tale... although it fitted onto the roof and did look the business it doesn't work why? because this awning is designed to fit a vehicle that has a roof height that's way over 2.0m, how do I know this ? because when I started to start to roll out the canopy the canopy protracts out at a very accute angle and as you try to bring it up to a usable level (adjustment legs)the pivot bolt within the 'shock absorber' bottoms out therefore in effect stopping you levelling off the canopy.... F45, F45S, and F30 PRO are basically fitted upright at a 45 degree angle to the vehicles side panel which means the canopy protracts fairly level before you make the adjustment on the uprights.
(Before I attempted to fit this awning no one really could tell me specifically why I couldn't fit this awning.... including their agents)!!
PS, if you could get the awning to sit down flatter on the roof you could overcome the issue of the pivot bolt bottoming...but you would need a very special bracket to do this and it still would only fit a Tin Top.

Same hear!...... I capitulated, sold the awning got rid of that frustration..bought a F45S but as I've never liked the Fiamma ten year old designed VWT3 bracket (all that weight hanging off a tiny footprint edge of the gutter) I now have to research what else I can come up with!

i think the way to go is the brackets that i got where the wieght is shared from the blots on the roof to the gutter but as you said the roof porfile of the tin top may not be the same but look forwrad to see want you come up with.

am I right in thinking that the 'roof' bolts are part of the AFT roof frame?

no if im right there are for a awaning fitting ie the 3 D shape rings fiitted the the sliding door side of the van on the top of the roof but some one with more knowledge should hopfluy hlep with this.
is there some one near you with a aft van that you could have a look at?
just add where about you are on your porfile
