Hello again all.
Can`t seem to get a definitive answer on here, whats the coolant capacity on the Bongo MY2000 V6?
Also there seems to be an ongoing debate about which type of coolant to use,do i go with what the sticker under the bonnet says and use ethylene glycol, which is Blue??
THANKS AGAIN......

Its about the same as the diesel 12/13 liters.......5 liters of antifreeze will do the job and save a bit for top ups.

What you musn't do is mix types of coolant.......If you do a complete drain and flush (that's what I would do) you can then refill with more or less anything, 2 year or 5 year.

If you don't drain / flush then you need to know whats in there (you probably don't) and stick to that.

Whatever you do ....MAKE SURE you know how to bleed the air out....most garages haven't a clue and getting it wrong can cost £2000 at least on a V6.....download the "bleeding" instructions and watch the YouTube vidio's (search "bleeding bongos") links can also be found on my web shop below.

Thanks Haydn..
Don`t think i`ve flushed all the old coolant out,i`ve only got approx 7 litres.
I have flushed from the rad cap, expansion tank and bleed pipe until the water has ran clear.
The disconnected rear piping was used as the exit, nice and low in the system so all should be out?
Where else will the 6 litres be???
Thanks....

If you didn't disconnect the radiator hoses, then its probably stuck behind the thermostat which will be closed!

I'm no expert but Kirstys description here is probably quite good http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=51611
You are aware of the need to bleed the system when you refill aren't you ? Use the search facility top Right for details as its a more complex process than the flushing!

You're always going to have some liquid left in the system, but the main thing is that it's fresh clean water, which it should be if you've given it a good flush out. The only way to get every last drop out would be using a compressor to blow it all out or using a suitable attachment you could remove it with vacuum. A wet and dry Hoover would probably work quite well. Really not worth the bother.

According to the handbook the V6 takes 13 liters of coolant ..
