Bongo Fury

Hi guys,

the top part of my drivers side window switch died on me (only the plastic buttons the rest is fine), so I popped it out took a look online for the price of a new one and fell over! 200 QUID!!! Anyway I picked myself up and went on eBay and got myself one from a breakers for £50. It came the other day and works fine apart from the fact the buttons open the wrong windows. So I figured I can use the bottom part of the switch (where the plug goes into the circuits board) from the old one and swap it with the new one. However when I took apart the old switch and separated the plastic part where the buttons are from the lower part where the board and plugs are a small ball-bearing appeared. Now I don't want to take the new one apart without knowing where to put this little chappy! Anyone come across the same problem and care to share their wisdom?

never heard of a gen or replacement been cross wired in the switch, has the loom at the door been repired maybe wrongly.or is it fine on the old switch.
the ball bearing fits between the white verticle slider and the inner sidewall of the switch body (slider housing)(usually a white hollow block).
this is the on/off for the passy side. the white plunger is connected to the rocker switch, this white plunger has a hole in its side face with thin metal contacts on it, that hole should house a tiny spring, fit the spring into the hole then sandwich the ballbearing between the end of the spring and the inner sidewall, this bearing then locates into a little indent inside the switch.

dont forget to strip naked and climb into a sealed bin bag when attempting to rebuild the switch, or you will be chasing the spring and bearing round the room .

Cross wired?? They never do that..! Unless the window switch was for a left hand drive model...?

You could try swapping the wiring over in the switch plug on the loom in the drivers door to correct this..? However you may find the rocker/passenger isolation switch will disable the drivers window & not the passenger side if it is a LHD drivers window switch...?? (That goes for the single drivers side "auto" window control too if fitted?)

Just highlighting the the possible quirks converting a drivers window switch set up for the LHD market..! (That's if the switch is..?)
