Removed mine in preparation for fitting Eberspacher heater. There is a lot of space you can make use of once all the gubbins are out the way:

Blanking the A/C by cutting the pipe, crimping the end & brazing it closed with aluminium rod:

Probably asking the absolute obvious, but will the rear air conditioning work after the rear heater has been taken out of the coolant circuit following a leak. I never use it, the front is enough or if really hot I open the sun roof. I had a drenched passenger on Sunday who wondered if it would help drying out soggy football kit and I just turned the front heater up which did the job.

I cannot think of a connection on the rear air conditioning which would require water, but am I missing something?

Rear A/C should work fine for cold air even with no coolant flowing.

Hi
Yes...rear aircon works when by-passing or removing the heater matrix...I've been running like that for a couple of years. I shall remove the whole box in the warm weather and replace the matrix with an all-metal one I have in stock!!!! The old matrix suddenly lost the plastic stubs with no warning...LCA screamed, and I stopped within 100 yards...and only 7 Klix from home, so not even warm!!!!!!
If reconditioning the whole cooling system, it's REALLY worth while swapping the matrix for a metal one...I've taken a matrix to pieces, and the old stubs go almost crystalline with age!!!!
Cheers
Helen
