Gullwing Mechanism problem

We have a P reg Freda (96?) with gullwing rear seats. There seems to be a problem with the nearside half - it is no longer firmly anchoring to the floor catch. There doesn't seem to be anything mechanically wrong, but despite WD40, probing, banging etc, can't seem to solve.
Does anyone had any experience of this kind of problem or have any ideas as to how to fix?
With thanks,
Claire and David.

I have occasionally found this. I think (but don't know why) that if I recline the seat away from being locked in the vertical and then bang it down again, it will catch.
Your mileage may vary.
Might be worth checking that the rear section of carpet is aligned properly and not reducing the depth to which the mechanism can drop.
Good luck.
Matt.

Or was it that it wouldn't catch if fully reclined and I had to raise it... one of the two. Regardless, it's a variable that you can play with.
