broke my rad today trying to flush it out,pulled off the hose off the top and ping riped out a section of the plastic...looked brittle

It just goes from bad to worse,was ment to be taking it to alan in plymouth 2mrw as well...


wonder what a bongo with overheating issues goes for,really thinking of geting shot of it(wife wont let me) really had enough of it now...too freekey for most garages to fix,one water leak and it over heats...fed up!

Can you get your van recovered to Plymouth and get him to fit a new rad and check your system over - it is known that a silted up rad can cause cooling issues - could this have been your problem ?

You gets what you pay for......you will not get full cooling with that one.

kawasaki kid ,duno mate just gone round the twist on this..been on it 5-6 weeks now..think recovery is the only way but going to cost a bomb plus need a new rad..

I want to scrap the thing at the moment! and iam not joking

I seem to remember Julian from 321away stating that he has fitted Quote (Ebay cheepo radiators supplied by customers,and used for own supply,without any problems.

Personally I would have no qualms at using Ebay radiators.

You could PM Julian just to put your mind at rest.

PS Whatever radiator you use,give it a good flush before you fit it and check the flow rate is OK.

i replaced my radiator approx 3 years ago with an ebay one. It was approx £100 and has worked fine ever since.
My head was replaced by me at the same time as it was cracked. again an ebay head and no problems with that either.
with new head bolts and a genuine mazda gasket all in all it cost me approx £400.

I am now running a full aliminum radiator 99 pounds im very happy with it i agree Genuine mazda one is abit excessive at that price really, i have ran Full ali rads on both my hondas and my brothers VTI-s honda for years and even done track days with them never had an issue.
chin up mate youll get there just keep cool if i was closer i would come help you i am nearly there with mine now just waiting on 1x Mistubishi Vacuum valve that i caught when changing the rocker cover gasket last night £40 mistake everyone only wants to sell in sets of two nevermind.

P.S. your missus is right to not let you i think people make a big deal about the bongo repairs and compared to most 4x4's they easy to work on i have broken 5 Pajeros in the last two years and they are a biatch to break mate, get yourself a new head get it fitted with new ali rad and head bolts you wont have any more issues.

i do find things on here abit doom and gloom sometimes. Keep cracking on dude dont give in they fantastic Vans just getting on abit.

Spot on see he did what was needed if you cant find a leak then theirs only one other place its going so he sorted it job done, top bloke.

if i went and only bought Honda Original Parts for my VTI i'd be bankrupt OEM/Copies can be just as good anything lasts when you take care of it mate.

Think Positive mate you get low then things just keep getting worse obviously your rad was in need of a change anyway otherwise wouldnt have broke would it?

If it's what' shown in the picture your buying then you wont have any bother there buddy......there never used to me much choice in Bongo rads..... but now there is more of them the cheaper they become...also the Plastic top/bottom tank jobs are as per O.E unlike the all metal jobs with the overflow that needs blanking off....best to get the Plastic ally ones so like the factory rather than the bodgit & scram metal type

I got the one as per 1st post,plastic top and bottom,looks actually well made was suprised.

REMEMBER,give the new radiator a good Flush,from top and bottom before you fit it.
