hi,
hope someone can give some advice please.

I have recently noticed that above 2000 rpm the engine seems to misfire and also get smoke from exhaust.
The engine starts fine when initially starting but after warmed up I have had a little trouble starting.

any advice greatly appreciated
thanks

You could try changing/cleaning air and fuel filters.Presuming you have a Diesel vehicle..

Cheers.

It is a diesel which has just had a full service last week. There is a company in Newcastle 'Just Diesel' who will look at it and put it on a diagnostic for £50 but I want to try a few things first. I will be changing the glow plugs weekend then maybe new noxxles on injectors, if it still chuffs after that then i may have it diagnosed.

If it's just had a full service I would take it back to where it was serviced and ask them why it misfires and smokes. Did it do it before the service and if so, did you point this out to whoever serviced it?

Changing the glow plugs won't fix it, they are only used when the engine is cold and are not operating at 2000rpm

Two suggestions: clean the banjo filter on the injector pump and try loosening the fuel filler cap slightly for a while in case you've got a problem with the tank breather system.

what engine is it, this sounds like a petrol engine problem, but if it is a diesel, check out simons thoughts.
