blowing hot and cold

Air con is on the blink. 32 degrees blows warm, 31,5 degrees and below is cold.

What's all that about?

Thank you. Loads of interesting info there.

My concern is whether it could be air in the coolant, although I had a see-saw session yesterday which released a fair few bubbles, but it is still hot at 32 and cold at 31.5

Does gassing the air con affect heat and cold settings?

If there was air in the coolant it wouldnt get hot at all?

There is a sensor in the cabin that tells the climate control what the temp is so setting the amount of heat etc to set it on

The 32 degrees is a max so over rides the sensor as does the 18 deg for cold (aircon on full)
so at 31.5 its on autoand so if the sensor is syaing the cabin is at temp it blows cooler air

Mine is considerably cooler at 31.5 than 32 but not cold. I assume so it gets to temp gradualy rather than full pelt.

If yours is cold then maybe the sensor needs checking.

If its blowing hot then the coolant is getting thru to the heating matrix, it sounds much more like either the plug on the rear of the Air con. control unit has come partially adrift, or the rods on the actuator that move the flaps have come off;

or the rods down in the drivers footwell underneath the console.;

Same for me.

Air Con seems to work just fine. When I put it on other modes it is rubbish, as explained above.
Variable warmth when on AUTO, but blowing cool air otherwise
