Two Issues - One to do with oil the other with mice!

First of all I have noticed oil seeping on the drivers side of the engine compartment and wonder whether I should be concerned? I haven't noticed any drips on the ground or in the tray under the engine just a slow seep I guess. I check the oil about once a month and haven't had to top it up for quite a while so I guess it's not a major leak. I have attached some photos below although they aren't the clearest:

The next issue is with mice, I seem to have a family of mice making expeditions into the Bongo every night. I have set traps and had 4 mice out of there now. From what I can tell they seem to be coming in through the air intake and through the vent behind the glovebox. Anyone got any ideas how to stop any more mice getting in?

Buy a cat or you could try putting a sign up at the intake saying No Mice!

Or put a piece of mesh over the hole.

Hi
The oil goo looks like the muck and filth that seems to ooze from the EGR connection to the inlet...very common...no problem.
Mice:....well, something is encouraging them to come in.
Crumbs of food, or flakes of chocolate, crisps, etc. left in the vehicle will encourage them. hoover and clean. Cat's not a bad idea...if you have a cat, or can borrow one for an hour or so a a time to kip in the car, it'll leave cat smell, and yon meeces won't like it...Since we have had a barn cat, we don't get as many ratties...BUT, as the cat is not allowed in the house because of the dogs, yon meeces now inhabit the house...we have caught 7, but have not put the traps out in the very severe weather, as we didn't want to think of them freezing to death in the cold we've just had (minus 22 to minus 28 C.)...now it's warming up, we'll start again
Anyway, mice will get in through infinitesimally small holes in a car, and they DO chew wiring, as it has been thought that they just LIKE to chew it...so...crack on and get them out.
Cheers
Helen

Hi,
Do you have acces to 240 mains, you could use one of these...they do work.

You could also put your heater control to recycle.this will shut off external entry.

I would routinely set traps in and around your Bongo, Peanut butter is good as is Nutella choc spread.
I would want rid of them ASAP as your insurance maynot cover rodent damage!
Lay a drain pipe along the nearest wall to the =bonga as the love running doan pipes, put a trap inside

Just make sure that the traps are Bird Friendly.

Cheers.

I posted on this oil leak thing. Looks same as yours. Had two mechanics look at it and
Both said its not a big problem, one of them knows lots about bongos, so I trust him. I did have the head gasket replaced, but this hasn't stopped it. Might be egr, which I am going to get blanked.
Might be worth thinking about.

In terms of mice poison everytime. Had a garage full of them last year. The traps were sprung, but no dead mice.
Used poison and they haven't been back.

My EGR's blanked, and I still have a shiny black engine block on that side too. My next point to look at is the breather which exits the cam cover, and is plumbed into the inlet. The oil must be coming from somewhere, but it isn't using an appreciable amount so I am not really in a big hurry to find the culprit. Just looks a bit odd until you realise that almost every TD Bongo out there has the same slick.

My Bongo had (has?) the oil leak...but NO mice [-X :D ....the mice are probably keeping clear because of next doors cat.....just loves to Sleep on top of my Bongo

Oil leak: Had the same leak, looked pretty thick, also small leak from EGR pipe connection (due to missing bolt). Steam cleaned/ degreased the area 2 weeks ago & blanked off EGR pipe. :D ..watching the area now

Hi. Leaking oil comes from the intake manifold gasket, replace the gasket. Or leave it as is.
Mouses, they can not get out of the car. They got into a car, when you are transporting foods, such as potatoes. They are shy animals, they hide in the car during the day. at night, trying to find food, they fall into your trap.
