Hi guys & girls
New to bongos new to the forum & new to lpg.(so be gentle)
My bongo is a v6 petrol with a lgp conversion with a donut tank in the spare wheel space. It has a side camper refit with a lifting roof.
I'm having a senior moment which I can't seem to get right in my head. :? :?
I fill up with lpg I get 40ltrs in the tank away I go. Around town and then a blast up the motorway.I get to 142miles on the trip meter and I run out of gas and the bleeps go off and I'm back on to the unleaded.
Does this seem right sort of mileage for this amount of lpg???
Many thanks in advance.
adrian

Welcome to the forum !

I'm not an expert on LPG, but one of the members will be along soon who is I'm sure but in the mean time;
Lets see 142Miles = 228.5Kms divide by 40Litres so that is 5.7Kms/Litre or about 16.1MPG
With petrol we get about 7.1Kms/Litre which is around 21MPG.
I think you'll find that you get about 2/3 on LPG compared to Petrol, so that seems about the right order, your saving of course is on the cost of LPG.

Bear in mind that the engine will start on petrol and only switch over to LPG when it gets up to temperature, so while you may have used 40 litre of gas, you've probably used a litre or so of petrol too.

I have a V6 LPG conversion, 60 litres 289, you do the math :lol:

I range from 280 - 330 miles for 60 litres, could probably get way better, I have a heavy foot :roll:

My V6 gives me an average of 23/25 mpg on petrol and 21/23 on lpg. It is important to make sure that you do have a good LPG engineer who knows his stuff to get your set up ok. My van was equiped with lpg by the importer and I wasn't happy with the lpg returns. Searched out an excelent converter local to me with many years of experiance. A lttle bit of additional tunning and a significant increase in my mpg.
Also be preapered to make sure you invest in regular LPG service it will pay dividends.

Cheers

I averaged 22.5 mpg on a full tank of LPG. That was all motorway driving at betwee 75 and 80 in Spain with loads of luggage and a back box.
