Hi, smiling from ear to ear, my new caravanstore awning arrived today and cant wait to fit it and try it out. Need the sides and front next, might have to make some somehow? Went for the 255 which looks just the right length when held against the van.

how are you fitting it. ive seen your thread for awning rail, how are you going to attatch using this.

ive fitted a couple to aft's using awning rail, if you fit the rail to the roof just behind where the roof seal seals (on the little high rib) you can close the roof and trap the bag top, this stops the thieves knicking it easy, and the bottom of the bag does not drape across the door opening etc.

Here are a few pics that I can find on my photobucket. I am sure I took more of the rail with the brackets attached in close up but I am struggling to find them.





The Bracket bolted in the holes where the black rings where. No need for anymore.



The bag sits in the perfect position above the gutter when stowed away. This stops it from catching in the doors.





*please note that ours was a 2.8. Only difference is the bag is a little longer.

With this method you can slide the awning along the rail to the position that best suits you. So, you can have it nearer the back or nearer the front. Also, if you don't want to leave it on out of camping season you can simply slide it off and store it at home.

I have a 2.5 fiamma Caravanstore - need to swap for a 2.3 ( yes, I made a special ss rail too short )

Can some one explain this to me.
Am I right in thinking this Awning rail bolts to the roof?
Then the Caravan store can be flipped up and the roof closed?
I have one in the garage but not sure what length it is, bought it for my Ducato but never used it.

Hi the awning rail bolts or rivets to the roof but the caravanstore goes on the rail and is just trapped by the roof and hangs on the outside. I have seen it done and it looks ok. Good thing is you shouldnt get any leaks as it is mounted under the roof. When I get mine fitted I will also add some pics.

That's really neat - wish I'd thought of that way yonks ago

Just bought a tin top so if any one wants my Caravan store let me know

THanks to Geoff I have now been convinced to keep the caravan store, so "Show me your mounts"
I am thinking bracket it off the gutter or from a pair of roof bars, I dont fancy drilling the roof ( its a Tin Top)

Now been googling would I be best fitting roof bars and fastening the awning rail to these or use brackets like this

Why not just fit the roof bars and bolt the awning rail onto that somehow, that way you can remove the rail when not in use. That one on the link obviously works but looks awful.

and it distorts the gutter and cracks the sealant between the panels, and encourages rust,
