Cold start RPM ?

Last weekend whils fitting new glow plugs i broke the cold start solenoid outlet, i have aquired a replacement part and now have inherited a new problem
When first starting l'oreal with her new reconditioned component inplace and plugged in she now wants to rev at 1700 rpm for her warm up period

not the 1100 rpm that she used to do, its defo summat to do with the solenoid cos if i pull the plug when she's reving she shuts her rpm to 900, she does shut her revs down from 1700 on her own after her warm up but surely she shouldn't rev that high when on cold start ?
Thanx Pete.

Initial thoughts were that the new vac. valve was allowing more vacuum to get to the diaphragm capsule which raises the cold start lever but then I think the vac. valve just lets all the vacuum past, so...........................my 2nd thoughts are that the original vac. valve was faulty or was partly cracked and someone has adjusted the diaphragm capsule linkage to compensate. Try readjusting the screwed linkage when the engine is cold til the revs drop to the original 1000/1100 rpm. From memory, you adjust item 24-8002 in the pic.

Thanks buddy i'll give it an adjustment prior to the initial cold start as i don't want her screaming her lungs out when she's stone cold and all her oil is in the sump

(second thoughts). also make sure the end of the throttle cable pushes the little plunger at the end of the cable when its all set up, and its warmed up.

I have my idle set a 750 when warm... (which is how i like it.) The solenoids on cold run my engine at this speed... It is possible to turn on the AC when hot/upto temp & set the idle that way?? Which is how i did mine after a replacement second solenoid myself, so the in the transition the idle don't jump up the idle when the AC is turned on...

I certainly agree with Dandy that the linkage screw was adjusted to compensate..

But personally i think 1700rpm is too high an idle for the engine from stone cold..??? Or even 1100?? (Just a theory wear & tear wise, slap me if i'm out?!!)

From memory, my Bongo cold idled at 1000 and hot at about 800 - any higher makes the gear selection "THUNK"

Yep, with Dandy on that! I would adjust the idle when up to temp on the accelerator cable linkage, (Red) then the screw that compensates when the AC is turned on so they match on the rpm...? (Blue one.)
Lucky i still got my seats up from my radiator incident...
What do you reckon Dandy..?

Guys guys guys !

Great info there (not that i didn't expect it wouldn't be)

Had a lill look s'morning and i loosened off the 10mm locking nut That Jaylee circled in blue prior to firing her up, as soon as she started to build her revs i just very slightly wound the threaded screw anti clockwise keeping her revs bang on the 1100 mark then once she switched off her cold start and dropped to her usual 900 rpm i just nipped up the locknut then took her for a lill test drive to ensure all is well.
I'll leave her all day to cool right down till just before it gets dark and i'll fire her up and see if she's ok or if she needs another lill tweak

No need to wait till dark dude, just put the AC on.. The actuator will do the same thing keeping the revs up..

I don't think you should be adjusting the idle on the cable - that just adjusts the free play in the pedal.
Again, from memory, the idle is adjusted by the screw at the blue end and the vac. caplule pulls the revs up for cold start and a/c. Is there not an adjustment at the othe end of the vac. capsule? at the diaphragm end?

Thanx again guys she seems to be ok she starts runs and idles as she should so i'll run her all week and see if she needs an adjustment mid week
