Bongo Fury

Hi,
I am having trouble with my Bongo in that the revs will not go over a maximum of 3,400rpm. I believe that there is likely to be an engine fault however using the fact sheet to try and intarrogate the diagnostics it appears that my diagnostic box does not have all the terminal pins for me to be able to check for engine fault codes. The missing terminals are the FEN, MEN and TEN ones. Does this mean there is no way to find if there is an engine fault code? If not what is the best way to see what is limiting the revs to a maximum of 3,400rpm?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Presuming that you have a 2.5TD.i Would make sure you are getting Full Throttle/Filters are clean/and Turbo is working.
PS what is the top speed of the vehicle at the moment?

Mine is missing these pins too - I've always found that odd.

You could go to the pin on the ECU connector itself - perhaps a bit of a contortion to get yourself in there with a multimeter to count along to the right pin but do-able. Alternatively, if the glow plug light it flashing, it should be flashing in code. Note the sequence down (it should repeat eventually) and you should be able to work out what code it's giving.

Have you tried cleaning the banjo filter (lots of info if you do a search) or replaced the fuel filter? The engine management diagnostic system is fairly primitive and is not likely to show any fuel related faults.

Also, have you checked / replaced the air filter?

Same on my 1995
