Bongo Fury

Hi again all,

With regards the on going problems with the old Bongo.

The garage is unable to get any fault codes from the ECU as there is no power going through the ECU?

Original fault, was not reving past 1,500 RPM and lack of power, then non starting at all. Garage unable to get the fuel pump to pump fuel through to the injectors.

The Van now needs to be sent to an Auto Electrical specialist to try and get the ECU diagnostic up and running.

Anyone else had a similar problem, or problems with the ECU? I am fearing the worst with this now!!

You don't say what type of vehicle you've got.

If it's the 2.5 TD, the ECU has nothing to do with the fuel pump (it's driven by the crankshaft, unless I've got this totally wrong).

I may be jumping the gun entirely, but for completeness, have you tried any of the following?
- replaced the fuel filter
- checked the 'banjo filter' in the fuel pump
- checked you've got a breather fuel cap and/or given it a wash out
- checked the fuel tank breather hose (search for this)

Re: ECU - I believe there are at least 3 power supplies to the ECU, including one that should be on with the keys out. How have you determined that there's no power going to it? Does your glowplug light come on when you turn the key? This is ECU controlled.

If I'm barking up the wrong tree and you're already beyond this, then hey... no harm done.

If you've got a V6, I'll just shut up.

I will pass this info on to the garage, they may well have looked at this, but it cant harm in making sure.

I have a R plate Bongo - Diesel. Does this still mean tha the pump should be driven from the crank??

Hi,the pump is driven initially by the crank shaft,has the Fuel cut off valve rubber been checked(it might have dislodged or disintegrated) blocking the fuel supply.

PS there is also a filter in the fuel tank,the garage has probably supplied the pump with a clean and fresh supply of fuel eliminating this?
