Hi people, my heater controls have gone tech. Basically its all or nothing with the digital control. I can set the display all the way to 31.5 degrees and its still blowing cold, i then go all the way to 32 degrees and its blowing red hot!!

Has anyone had something similar??

If so, possible solutions??

Cheers

Thanks for the reply NB, do you have to take the unit out to check the flaps and reostat?

The flaps are adjusted by servo's/actuators on the sides of the case which can be seen from the footwells
http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html
Items 61-A30 an 61-A20 the servos are linked to the flaps by little wire links, these are often known to come off.
also check that the Fan speed (by sound) does vary even if there isn't much air coming thru, if it doesn't vary then most likely the transistor has blown - there is a Factsheet in the Club area that details how to replace it, the transistor is bypassed by a relay at the highest speed.

Hi Sidyboy, I have had the same trouble since early last year and looked through all help i could find on here and tried all the help suggestions but still have the problem, spoke to a garage and they said it would not be cost effective to find and fix, but if you manage to find an answer I would be delighted to hear it and maybe get back to driving where you are nither cooked or frozen, lol. Good Luck

It sounds to me that the system is telling you that regardless of the temperature you set, the van is already too warm, and it's sending in cold air. As you might already know, temperature demands up to 31.5° are regulated, and 32° means 'hot as possible'. So, when you select 32° you are getting the full hot treatment, and anything less and the system is trying to cool you down to 31.5°. To me this sounds like the cabin temp sensor may be at fault.

This is an educated guess though, as I don't know which way that sensor works. Does open circuit mean it's telling the A/C ECU that the cabin is hot? Perhaps Geoff knows which sense it works on.

One other thing worth checking is the connectors on the back of the control panel. I had a similar issue with the fan speed - nothing until I went to 18° or 32° when the fan runs flat out - I suspected the fan transistor pack, but in the end it was a loose multi-plug connector on the back of the control panel.

is this just on the mode setting when straight at you??

Mine is exactly like that, only get heat on the straight out mode setting when i ramp it up to the top setting, but when combined say with the foot setting, front screen etc. I get whatever temp I've set it at. I asked on here about it an didn't get very far, a couple of others had the same. If you find a simple fix, again i'd be interested.............it's not a huge problem though. I mainly put the heating on in the back as well which warms up the van quickly.

From the handbook on the auto air con unit:

"warning"

"to let the warm air coming out of leg area and cool air from the upper body area, select the Upper body/lower leg mode and set the temperature to around 25 deg C."

The manual isn't the easiest thing to get your head around, but it seems 25 deg is somehow critical in which part of the body/window recieves hot or cold air!

I hope that's of some use.
