Bongo Fury

Hi there,
I've searched for this topic (e.g. http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... ck#p433266) but can't spot any indication of a possible source for replacement remote central locking fobs.

We've got a '97 Freda, it has factory remote locking, and the fob got lost as an indirect result of the February earthquake (don't ask who dropped it down a drain at the time).

Has anyone succeeded in sourcing and pairing a replacement for a factory fob? I really don't want to go down the road of fitting a new actuator when all the bits are there and working - except the fob.

Hi, it may just well be cheaper & definitely quicker in the long run as an alternative to sourcing the original fob & getting coded, to fit a new kit & tie it in with the original Mazda fitted remote solenoid..? (New receiver & fob set.)

.. I mean you should just be able to tap the wiring in the drivers footwell?? It's just a matter of checking the colour coding on the solenoid wires in the door & following them back.... No actual need to thread anything through the door loom!

Plenty of room to fit what you need up in the drivers end of the dash...

Thanks for the comments. You make it sound so easy. But I'm cautious, because of warnings I found elsewhere (after searching the forums for this topic) that it's not straightforward to just muck with the factory in/out.

So - since you've done it, can you tell me whether it's just a case of identifying about two easy wires and connecting the new receiver/driver in the right place? Or was it a partial deinstallation of some of the factory stuff, followed by a full alarm install?

The first I can probably manage if the hunt isn't too complex (i.e. blindingly obvious). But I couldn't manage the second without a walkthrough from someone who has done it, alas.

[My level is "followed the factsheet to fit the Waeco cruise control ok", rather than "could have fitted it without the factsheet". ]

My experience comes from fitting two after market remote CL/alarm systems to a standard manual CL system triggered from the drivers door.. The first system was a simple set up Sparkrite alarm i had hanging around boxed in my garage, that was intended for the previous vehicle.. It failed miserably after a year & no amount of resetting would put the brain box that duels as a siren & knock sensor too would put it right..!!

The second system i installed is modular.. I've fitted window roll up & even got my mirrors to fold on the locking... (The fold out again when starting the vehicle.)
It covers all the doors i opened, shock sensor, & interior....

Regarding your conundrum.. I fancy;
Without taking the drivers door card off & identifying a unit that looks like a solenoid controlling the rest of CL the system in the drivers door, then identifying the wire colour coding off the unit & picking up from inside the foot well i couldn't tell you what's going on..?!!

In theory it just possible to cut & rout to the new system controls....
There is on the "manual locking system" a constant 12v running to either one of two wires in the drivers door loom which gets switched by the drivers door key lock (DON'T CUT INTO THESE!!) to a relay under the glove box that sends a 1/2 sencond'ish pulse to the passenger door, sliding & boot to open or close respectively..

Now i'm hoping on your system that this "receiver" isn't integrated with the aforementioned CL pulse relay..?

We need more input to confirm this.....

I have always been used to a 'blip' in my Toyota key fob for remote central locking ... my 'new' Bongo has central locking .. but only via the key in the drivers door ..

I have looked on eBay for remote locking /windows up / mirrors in / alarm / flashing LED / gizmos etc: .. but to be honest it is a 'minefield' of models / technology ..

I linked to the one on eBay mentioned previously with the specifics on fitting ... but none are now available ..

Any suggestions for the best featured one (@around £30) with on going 'Bongo owners' advise if I encounter a fitting problem..??

I will have dogs in the bus... are ultra sonic or microwave versions best .. can the sensor be turned off .. or is it better stick to the voltage drop / door pin switch system.................??

plus 2 with jaylee yopu can pick one up on ebay for £23 much cheaper than factory replacement also my brother in law has emigrated to christ church the day he arrived he was woken up by banging on his door there had just been a earethquake he had slept through after a 15 hour flight

Nope, i think yer dogs will do just fine...

Eerrr ... I didn't mean microwaving the dogs .. I meant ... will the dogs be setting the armed alarm off !!

Vehicle + 2Xdogs= deterrent.
