Just picked up Bongo from local mazda dealer following full service and MOT. Passed MOT no probs, however on way home sudden loss of power and clouds of black smoke.....recovered back to garage who say not their fault and after much head scratching say either injector problems or EGR......what do you think. Gonna cost me a packet I guess.

Black smoke is a sign of rich mixture its worth checking that when they replaced the airfilter they didn't leave a cloth in the housing thats restricting airflow also are the turbo pipes connected ? did the van feel ok when you first had it back and was the power loss instant ?

Don't you love the way they know it isn't thier fault but don't seem to know what it is.
Always difficult when you run a garage.

What did the full service entale, did they do anything that you do with normal cars that shouldnt with a Bongo ? change the water for instance sort of thing.

May be a stupid question (actually its obvious) why should you not change the water ?? this is something I was going to do b4 the onset of the snows....

Apparently EGR broken and injectors weeping , by the time all this is done along with all the other bits I have had to replace this year a new engine would have been the cheaper option eg.. head gasket, new rad, rec autobox, thermostat, fan sensor, glow plugs to mention but a few..
