My mechanic says i need to replace the metal pipes at the rear matrix as they are badly coroded. In his words one goes forward and the other over the gearbox.
Is this a common problem?
Can i get hold of new ones or is it a breaker jobbie?
Any other solutions?
I am off to the Netherlands on Saturday in her and if they start leaking then where is the best place to short circuit or blank this off?

Tony

61-2D1 & 61-2D2 on this picture.

IIRC, you can cut them just behind the 'T' section where the engine hoses connect, and blank them off there. Does the rusty section extend forward of the 'T' sections?

Obviously, that means the rear heater is out of action though.

You should be able to order them from Mazda. There is a fact sheet in the member's area with the part numbers etc, or you can link to them on the lushprojects page.

I had a small leak/weep from the T section of the offending pipe as well.
I got round it by cutting it back and replacing with a brass 3/4" T piece, a section of hose that was slid over the remaining original pipe and the new brass T piece and secured it with jubilee clips. It hasnt so much as hinted of a leak since as was a lot cheaper and easier than sourcing and fitting a replacement.
The hardest bit was sourcing the correct bore of T piece, it was eventually an ebay job as its not a standard plumbing fixture, or so it seems.

I think you just answered my question too !

Its the T-Piece thats gone on mine. 3/4" brass one seems to be what I need then....
