Bongo Fury

Well I've removed my Friendee decals ( and what a faff THAT was) but can I get rid of the adhesive residue? No I can't. I've tried White Spirit and I've tried Auto Glym tar remover and I've tried staring at it malevolently, but it's still clingin' on.
Any suggestions?

try wd40 but lots of old fashioned elbow grease

Desolvit Sticky Stuff Remover. You can get it in Poundshops and possibly Wilkinsons. I believe it is Citrus based.

I used Cellulose Paint Thinner,worked a treat and removed all the glue!A good polish afterwards
and as good as ever.

I've got the same issue - got the decals off but not the adhesive (yet). Guess there's no escaping the fact that some time and elbow grease will be required whatever substance is used.

I was wondering about thinners, but was worried about damaginig the paint/lacquer?

Blimey, that stuff looks scary. And I don't think I could afford the protective suit and breathing apparatus.

Tried WD40 but no luck, so off to get some cellulose thinners now; if that doesn't work then I'll see if I can get some Desolvit.

Ahah! Methylated spirits seems to do the job but it's flippin' hard work. Still, you can always take a quick fortifying swig from the bottle when you start flagging

The Polished Bliss chaps are not far from me and they do cracking jobs on yer motor.

I tried everything, but the guy at the spray shop told me to use Petrol. And it did work!!!! Still took alot of elbow grease

So many people i hear advising to use thinners ...
It does what it says on the tin,,It thins.
Iv been doing decals for years now and i have seen what it can do to your bodywork,
Maybe not straight away but belive me thinners can takes of layers of paint within seconds.

as advised by the paint shop petrol will do the job,
I use it many other signwriters use it,

I seem to have used everything so far - including thinners! I certainly haven't noticed any significant lifting of the paint, nor any paint transferred onto the cloth. I think my best results so far have come from Methylated Spirit, but by heck it's a long job - softening the adhesive isn't a problem, it's lifting it off rather than just smearing it around that's the problem. With hindsight, I wish I'd just learned to love the decals!
