Hi All,

Currently sunning it up at the bongo bash.
Recently changed my clutch in my 1996 2.5 4x4 diesel manual bongo, its been around 2 months ago now, and around six weeks ago the thing started shuddering when first pulling off. This is worse when hot but present when cold too.

One thing was noticed when the clutch was changed is that the ADL replacement I brought for my vehicle was actually larger in diameter than the one fitted at purchase, suspected 2 wheel drive clutch?? or cheap alternative.

Also changed are, master and slave cylinders.

Checked so far, clutch movement via slave cylinder, fine, rear prop, fine, rear U/J's, Fine.

Any ideas or assistance would be great.

Many thanks.

Or if your at the bash come find me have a natter.

Cheers

did you replace all 3 pieces.
i dont think they do a manual 2 w/drive,but could be wrong.
i replaced mine last year with a blue print unit which has been fine, i did find i had to replace the master and slave just after to get the best out of the new unit.
the blue print unit was just a tad under £200 if the price helps.
maybe like you say the replacement is for the older bongo, and is wrong for this bigger engine.
judder is usually the pressure plate springs, so this may be the same issue.

see you at the bash.

Hi Stuart Dunn,

As Ady said it could be a faulty pressure plate/release bearing or driven plate.
It would also be worth checking the drain hole in the bottom of the bell-housing for signs of oil also gear box and engine mountings and engine to gear box bolts.

Cheers.
