Just thought i would add some pics of recent progress, alloys fitted and bonnet painted. Decided to take the safe route on the alloy front and went for normal silver. Bonnet still needs polishing but will do that next week. New wings are painted but not fitted, so bumpers done, wings and bonnet done, front and rear bumpers done, doors back over to sort now, arches will be a problem.

=D> Now that's looking like a great work in progress Stuc! =D> The RX8's look great, as does the bonnet  have you considered going "all black" and losing the lower silver section completely? How are you planning on tackling those arches?

I see somebody in the past has drilled out the front wings for the side repeaters but forgot to paint/treat the exposed metal after drilling #-o

I caught mine just in time... I reamed out the holes a mil or so bigger, then painted the exposed metal, waited for it to dry, then smeared with copper grease for good measure... that was over 7 years ago now and the side repeaters are still bob on :D

Great minds and all that, silver will be going and maybe some graphics or colour added somewhere. New wings have been cut for repeaters and painted after. Smaller nissan micra white repeaters will be used. I am thinking of just cutting out the rust and repairing the arches with filler etc as i have looked at the transit arch fix and can see all have just been filled with filler anyway as the shape of the transit arch is nothing like the bongo shape. I have not been impressed with peoples fixes looking at the various photos.

White Micra s/r's will work well on the freshly painted wings Stuc... Bombproof too seeing as you painted them afterwards.

I know what you mean about the transit arches... :?

I suppose though in the absence of pukka repro steel rear arches for a bongo they are the next best thing. :?

Surely it's now just a matter of time before somebody, somewhere develops a decent set of weld on arches for the bongo?

I've been lucky insofar as mine are ok at the moment, but how long will that last?

Ok, my bongo is mothballed during the winter (gritted roads averted etc) And the lips under the arches are regularly cleaned, but surely the old rust bug will bite sooner or later! :?

Stuc? whilst your front wings are still off the vehicle, run a bead of sealant on the inside of the wings at the lower join point... I've had a new wing fitted recently and i did the same to help stop water making it's way into the seam, i had the other wing removed, checked (no rust) and "seamed" too... then a protective layer of waxoyl was sprayed over the extra bead for good measure.

Took AFT graphics off today (easier than expected) then machine polished and waxed the full roof ready for some new graphics next week.

You have got to try something different, that's the whole point of pimping, to suit what you want and not follow everything everybody does. by all means pinch ideas then alter them  #-o .
Looking good ,don't forget the pics. :D
