Bongo Fury

I appreciate that signal quality, especially with Freeview varies considerably, but wondered if anyone had tried one of these? Loathed to buy it and find out its no better than an old coat hanger

I have just purchased the Avtex twig. Not a good selling point this, but I think it is a load of c**p.
I have a set top ariel in my kitchen that works better on freeview.
I have tried the Avtex in the kitchen and in the van, and it will only pick up a few channels, and that is with it plugged into a power supply. without the power supply, nothing, nout etc.

So here comes my death wish, does anyone want to buy my Avtex, brand new boxed????????? Thought not, in the bin it goes then.

Why would you want to sit in the van and watch telly when there are so many other good things to do when you're on holiday?

It's a right old minefield this one. But DON'T bin it. I'm sure the other users are right when they say it is the best, and it may be you are just in a v. poor area or somesuch. But someone else will want it, based on the above recommendations, and at - say - £25 new and posted it'll be a bargain and the loss will not be such a stinger. Or just keep it and try it when you go camping, where reception might be better. Hell, I'd be interested myself only I'm not camping much and I've decided a prefer a book when I do (always get good reception with those )

Never had an issue with the Avtex anywhere in the UK...... although some areas are still poor on Freeview as they have not switched to full power....but still with my aerial I have a signal on Freeview at all times even in Lincolnshire which isn't "over" yet...

My Brother purchased one of those aerials for their Motorsport rescue unit....It works at all the UK race circuits( from Oulton to Lyden and all between) on Freeview too...they think its brilliant.......

I paid £30 at the NEC Caraven show.

I bought a standard house roof aerial with pole ,and a fixing to clamp it to the trailer or bull bar, no power required. It works fine with a freeview dongle for the laptop. Only problem is it takes up a bit of space, although not too bad when split.

Thanks for your replies.
The reason I watch TV on holiday Poohbear, is that I go for anything up to 4 months into Europe each year.
And last year it rained and then it rained some more, the campsite had to be pumped out 3 times, and so I stayed in the van a lot. Only so many museums etc to look at.

As for the Avtex, it's gone, done and dusted, binned.
