Hi all
After years of driving and camping in my Bongo we have decided to get a caravan for a bit more comfort in our later years, we will be towing the caravan with the bongo and need some advice. Now the tech bit, I have bought a L/B tray, Tow bar twin elec kit from the club and I want to fit it all myself.

1. With a L/B in the van and the caravan do i need two split charge relays?
2. The one supplied with the kit is a TEC3M With terminals labled as 12v, 12v, 6, 4, 2, 0v.
in that order and the diagram has gone out of the box so what goes where.
3. where is the best place to fit the audible relay.

All help and suggestions gratefully received
Thanks
Paul

hi there, i can offer some advice.

1. does the caravan have a zig unit or does it have a battery on board. this info would be helpful to decide if two is needed or not. usually when on site you plug caravan into leccy and it will charge up the battery on board. if it dosnt there are ways of doing this with one relay.
2 best thing to do is throw it in the bin. pure rubbish relay that one im afraid and will burn out quite fast, get a proper one from either willinton or raw componants (on net)
3 i fitted our behind the rear left panel, close to where the connections will be made for the towbar. This is also where i mounted a spare split charge relay so got plenty of oportunities to charge whichever battery we need and when, as we have 2 in bongo, one in caravan and one in trailer tent. As we drive with the trailer tent the bongo is charging up both batteries in bongo and one in tent, when on site with tent can unplug and use that battery, if plugged into bongo uses lb and if started charges again. If in caravan, when plugged into site mains, charges caravan battery, if plugged into bongo charges the bongo lb and then the bongo sb. and if not using caravan, plug bongo into mains, flick switch and it charges lb first then sb.

very confusing even for me to write it down. all i know is it works.

Hi mike, jo and emma

Thanks for your help, the caravan has a zig but most of the places we go to have no hook-up as we do medieval re-enacting which is normally on a farmers field hens the need to charge two battery’s from the Bongo. Can you recommend a relay to do the job.

ive not had a bad service from steve at raw components with my system. the old model failed on mine. sent it back, he repaired it and sent me the newer model and the old one back foc.
was on the phone to him one sunday night around 9pm when i was installing it with technical issue.
his units have changed now so a lot more reliable.

or see if willinton has one on ebay, his kits comes with a fuseboard kit to put lots on the lb.
I wasnt interested in all that as i dont have issues running things off the sb.
