Hello,
Im on day 2 of Bongo ownership, so pretty new!
Ive got a 2000 4wd 2.5 diesel. The problem is that what looks like the glow plug warning light is flashing. This is when the engine is hot. Is it going to be an expensive, difficult fix and is it okay to drive it? Hope i havent bought a bad un.

There's a fact sheet about flashing glow plug light here http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... ostics.pdf
Also loads on the forum if you search for "flashing AND glow" - without the inverted commas 8)

Dont know if this is right of wrong but when i was fitting a new dvd player i blew the stereo fuse. When i drove to the shop to get a new one the glow plug flashed all the way. Put in the new fuse and all was ok again. May be worth checking fuses?

sounds like dreaded sticky waste gate actuator, try grabbing it with pliers and see if it moves freely? do you lose power/acceleration once the light starts flashing?

Thanks for your replies. To Julian, that sounds worth a try but where do I find it and do it?! I'm fairly mechanicly minded but this is my first diesel so still learning! Also can anyone recommend any garages in the Gloucestershire area?

Under the passenger seat , about middle of the engine, you can see a (bit of ) bar running horizontally,From the back of acttuator, you can identify this byt following pressure pipe (about 1.5cc dia) from the rail (just inside the engine bay, nearest your legs)runs up to the atuator on the engine, on the other side of the big diaphragm housing you'll see the actuator rod, try moving it a few times, esp once yopu have the flashing light,BE CAREFUL whole area is very hot!

If it moves freely, get under the drivers seat and check the vacuum control valves, they are on the rail (again nearest your legs) almost at he back of the open space, 3 horzontal, your interested in the rear most vertical, if this died, it will cause your sypmtoms, changing may give you a temporary fix, but if you do lose power when the light flases its most likely to be the turbo gasket.
