What are these objects on the guttering of my van?

Hi, I have just bought my first Bongo! (well 1995 Ford Freda actually). However it has two electrical connectors about the size of a matchbox attached to the roof guttering towards the rear of the van on either side. These electrical connectors are chrome plated and appear to hinge downwards by about 90 degrees. A double wire runs from them under the back corners of the elevating roof and down either side of the back door under the rubber door seal. Any ideas what they are for?
Thanks in anticipation, Dave

There was one for sale which had been used as a 'First Responder' vehicle, could they be connectors for roof bar lights which have been removed?
